In replacing 10km of corroded fire piping ranging from DN200 down to DN25 without any hot works and uninterrupted production, Century’s solutions included a 3D laser scan survey of the area, with the resulting point cloud imported into a 3D CAD model. The new pipe spools were then modelled in situ in a virtual mock up. Each spool was then taken off the model and a 2D arrangement and detailed drawings were created so the pipework could be fabricated off site. This process ensured new pipes cleared existing plant and removal of old and installation of new spools could be safely executed without any disruption to a major revenue stream for the client.

The design, construction and commissioning of two new gas chlorine storage and dosing systems at the Duckmaloi Water Filtration Plant and Oberam Dam required an extended period of proof-of-performance testing before handover. Scope of work included detailed design, installation and commissioning of: new direct-mount gas chlorine system for use on 9000kg drums at both sites (required dose rates were 10 kg/h and 4 kg/h with duty standby facilities); electrical supply, metering, instrumentation and controls, including SCADA integration; new ejectors and associated pipe and fittings. Further, new buildings and structures, including lifting devices, were designed and built.

Century was commissioned to undertake the emergency manufacture of 6 towers in 4 weeks, to replace collapsed towers. The project was completed in an incredibly tight timeframe, given the normal lead-time for a single tower is 8 weeks. As a result of processes developed specifically for the project, all 6 towers were delivered on schedule, arguably an industry best. Plus, the damaged transmission line was restored within the timeframe.

Century worked with BAE Systems to complete a $2 million contract for Unit Load Ammunition Containers (ULAC) for the Australian Defence Force (ADF) – well ahead of the contracted delivery date. ULAC are an essential support component of the ADF’s 155mm M777A2 howitzer artillery, used by soldiers in the field for the safe transport and storage of propellant and projectiles in training and operational environments. BAE Systems designed, tested and project managed the delivery of the ULACs – and commissioned Century to manufacture them.
