In replacing 10km of corroded fire piping ranging from DN200 down to DN25 without any hot works and uninterrupted production, Century’s solutions included a 3D laser scan survey of the area, with the resulting point cloud imported into a 3D CAD model. The new pipe spools were then modelled in situ in a virtual mock up. Each spool was then taken off the model and a 2D arrangement and detailed drawings were created so the pipework could be fabricated off site. This process ensured new pipes cleared existing plant and removal of old and installation of new spools could be safely executed without any disruption to a major revenue stream for the client.
